‘The Willow Pattern’   by Judith Johnson directed by Rebecca Chapman

A story of innocent, yet forbidden love, The Willow Pattern is a charming and

witty play adapted from an ancient Chinese traditional tale and set in a vibrant and colourful land of the past.

Knoon-She is the determined daughter of a powerful and tyrannical ruler, The Mandarin. She isn’t keen on marrying the noble warrior her father has in mind for her and instead has eyes for Chang, her father’s humble secretary. The Willow Pattern is a funny, moving and thought-provoking play encompassing poetry, story-telling, proverbs and some martial arts!
